SUMMARY:Enabling Good Lives to begin in MidCentral
DESCRIPTION:Enabling Good Lives is a new system for disability support which has been designed together with disabled people\, whānau and others in the disability sector. It aims to offer greater choice and control over the supports you receive. \nAfter demonstrations in Canterbury and Waikato\, Enabling Good Lives is due to be trialled first in the MidCentral region from Oct 1st 2018. This area includes Palmerston North\, Horowhenua\, Manawatu\, Ōtaki and Tararua districts. View a MidCentral map here. \nFor people who are in MidCentral\, the support you receive on the 30th of September will continue to be the support that you receive on the 1st of October. There will be no changes unless you approach Enabling Good Lives saying that you would like to make a change or at the time you get to a regular review point. \nThe new system will feature: \n\nbeing welcomed into the system and finding out information in multiple ways\naccess to a Connector who will walk alongside disabled people and whānau to help them identify what they want in their lives\, how to build that life\, and the supports available\neasy to use information and processes\nconnected support across government\nstreamlined funding and allocation\, including access to a personal budget to be used flexibly\ncapability funding for disabled people and whānau to build their skills\ngreater system accountability with disabled people and whānau involved in its governance.\n\nRead more about the Enabling Good Lives approach here. \n  \n
