SUMMARY:Tweens and Teens Weekend 2019
DESCRIPTION:This weekend is being held in Wellington at the Bay Plaza Hotel. Tweens and teens with PWS are able to attend with one parent / carer. \nThis event focuses on supporting teenagers with PWS and their families. It will involve plenty of social time\, a workshop activity for the teens\, plus visits to some of our capital city’s attractions (see programme below.) If you are keen for your teen to connect with others with PWS enjoying some social time\, and if your family are keen to discuss transition or other issues\, please see how to register below. \nHOW TO REGISTER / CONFIRMATION PAYMENTS:\nA number of rooms have been kept on hold for us at The Bay Plaza Hotel. The hotel require the PWSA to pay a deposit for each room by April 17th. Therefore we will require a confirmation payment from families by TUESDAY 16th APRIL please. We cannot guarantee a room will still be available after April 17th if a confirmation payment is not received.\nContributions from families have been set at $40 per person. This includes 2 nights accommodation\, all meals and activities.\nPlease make your payment into the PWSA bank account using your NAME and TEENS WKND as references. Email: jo.davies@pws.org.nz \nFLIGHT SUBSIDIES:\nUp to $200 flight subsidy per person is available for the 2 family members attending the weekend. If you haven’t already booked your flights\, please do so and forward the flight booking email to us with your bank account details to receive the subsidy payment. Please contact us to discuss subsidies if you are travelling from outside the main centres and flight prices are prohibitive. \nADDITIONAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS:\nPlease send us an email as soon as possible if you have any particular dietary requirements: jo.davies@pws.org.nz \nPROGRAMME (full details tbc):\nFRIDAY\nWe appreciate that families will arrive at different times on Friday evening so our weekend will officially start with dinner (likely to be 6pm). Check in at the hotel is from 2pm. Those arriving earlier may wish to meet from around 3.30/4pm at Freyberg Beach Play Area which is a short 550m walk from the hotel. You may also wish to head to Freyberg Pool next door until 5.30pm.\nAfter dinner on Friday the teens will do some getting to know each other activities.\nSATURDAY\nHealthy Relationships workshop for tweens and teens 9 – 11am.\nTrip on the Wellington Cable Car up to the Botanic Gardens for picnic lunch.\nVisit to the Space Place Observatory for a cinema experience.\nPossible visit to Wellington Museum (time permitting).\nAfter dinner – game and movie night for the teens / parent discussion time in the bar area.\nSUNDAY\nCroc bikes (3 – 6 seater bikes) around Wellington waterfront (wet weather alternative – laser tag)\nVisit to Te Papa Museum\nWe expect to finish after lunch around 1.30/2pm \n              \n  \n
